Mission Statement
THE MISSION OF THE CHILD PROTECTION CENTER IS TO BUILD A HEALTHIER COMMUNITY BY LEADING THE MULTIDISCIPLINARY RESPONSE TO THE PREVENTION, IDENTIFICATION, AND TREATMENT OF CHILD ABUSE AND VIOLENCE. THE CHILD PROTECTION CENTER WILL RESPECT THE CHILD AND PROTECT THEIR VOICE THROUGHOUT THE INVESTIGATION OF CHILD ABUSE.

Forensic Interview
A forensic interview is a recorded conversation designed to elicit a child’s unique information when there are concerns of possible abuse or when the child has witnessed violence against another person. Forensic interviews are conducted by compassionate, highly educated and experienced Forensic Interviewers who are specially trained in forensic interviewing techniques and have a solid understanding of child development. The primary aim of forensic services is to aid in ensuring the safety of the individual child as well as other children in the community. Forensic services are provided in a safe and child-friendly environment.

Advocacy Program
During each scheduled forensic interview a Family Advocate is assigned to meet with the victim child’s non-offending family and/or caregivers to provide victim support and advocacy services, as well as follow up services for families throughout the life of the investigation. Advocacy services include the following; Crisis assessment and intervention, risk assessments, safety planning and support for children and family members. Assessment of individual needs and cultural considerations for the child and family to ensure those needs are addressed.

Therapy Program
Child Protection Center offers a range of evidence-based, trauma-focused treatment services for children/teens that have completed a Forensic Interview, and for their caregivers. Our mental health services focus on the child’s feelings and behaviors that are currently causing distress, rather than continued focus on the details of the trauma. Prevention and Training
CPC is an authorized facilitator of Awareness to Action, a 6-month training and consultation program designed to help youth-serving organizations strengthen policies, procedures, and systems to better protect children and communities.
