For over 30 years, Habitat for Humanity of Metro Louisville has worked in the greater Louisville community to create and preserve affordable housing and revitalize neighborhoods. Habitat supports and empowers low-income homebuyers in their journey to homeownership through financial education, homebuyer services and affordable housing construction. With the help of hundreds of community volunteers, in efforts ranging from Board Member to home builds and neighborhood clean-up, Habitat is tackling the city’s pressing need for affordable housing. Habitat is an ideal partner for banks under the CRA as it offers banks a variety of ways to earn positive CRA credit through lending, investment, donations, grants, in-kind donations and volunteerism.

AFFORDABLE HOMEOWNERSHIP PROGRAM
To address Louisville’s pressing need for affordable housing, Habitat constructs homes throughout the city, primarily in low- and moderate-income neighborhoods. Eligible LMI homebuyers participate in Habitat’s affordable homeownership program, which provides zero interest mortgages, as well as financial education and homebuyer support. Each year, hundreds of community volunteers support these affordable housing efforts.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT & HOME REPAIR
In an effort to increase neighborhood pride, preserve affordable housing stock and build demand within underserved, low-income neighborhoods, Habitat’s “Love Your Neighborhood” initiative focuses on community development. This program selects multiple homes and streets for exterior home repair, critical home repair and neighborhood beautification, including alley and vacant lot clean-up.
