Mission Statement info

MJF'S MISSION IS TO ACHIEVE EQUAL ACCESS TO JUSTICE FOR ALL MONTANANS THROUGH EFFECTIVE FUNDING AND LEADERSHIP BY PROVIDING GRANTS TO CIVIL LEGAL AID AND OTHER NONPROFITS SERVING THE VULNERABLE IN OUR COMMUNITY WHO WOULD OTHERWISE BE FORCED TO NAVIGATE OUR CIVIL JUSTICE SYSTEM ALONE. OUR GRANTEES HELP MONTANANS STAY IN HOUSING, RECEIVE MEDICAL CARE, ESCAPE ABUSIVE AND VIOLENT ENVIRONMENTS AND REBUILD THEIR LIVES ON A PATH TO HEALTH, SAFETY AND SELF-SUFFICIENCY.

Under rules governing attorneys, lawyers are required to hold client funds that are nominal in amount or held for only a short time in an IOLTA account, which earns interest that is remitted to Montana Justice Foundation which funds through grants to nonprofit civil legal aid programs and other eligible nonprofit grantees throughout the state of Montana.
