The Black Youth Community Trauma Arts Therapy Program
The Black Youth Community Trauma Arts Therapy Program, an early mental health prevention initiative, teaches youth ages 9-24 how to identify, work through, and move past generational, racial, economic, and relationship trauma. The program builds on the University of Louisville's successful evidence-informed trauma psycho education program, "Mind Matters," which has reached 500 youth over the past four years. It provides therapy and education to address generational trauma issues within Louisville’s Black community. Its aim is to help youth understand what trauma is and its range of health, mental health, and social consequences, particularly noting that their parents likely experienced trauma as well. Help lift up our next Black generation.
