Relate provides mental health counseling services regardless of the ability to pay. Services are provided in our office, at schools, and at local food shelves. Mental health issues are on the rise and suicide rates have risen 40% since 1999. It is important that the community be able to access quality mental health care no matter what their financial circumstances are.

Details of Need

Funding will support the 100 client families per year that access free and reduced-fee services provided by Relate. Relate offers a variety of services including office-based, school-based and community-based.

Our office-based services include therapy for adults, adolescents, couple, family and group formats. We provide diagnostic, chemical, psychiatric, and psychological assessments and provide psychiatric medication management. We also offer group classes and education programming.

Our school-based programs are done in partnership with the State of Minnesota and West-Metro school districts to provide direct services in schools. We serve students who otherwise would not have access to our services.

Our community-based services are provided through our work with local nonprofit profits and food shelves. We provide community members in need with access to therapeutic services and education programs related to mental health.

Community Impact

Throughout the year, 80% of Relate clients who regularly attended sessions reported a positive change in behaviors along with stabilized or improved mental health status. We have 55 clinicians on staff and serve or influence over 5,500 individuals each year. Over 65% of our client are children and teens.

Our services improve the emotional ell being of individuals and families within our community. We provide early intervention support to individuals and families. We develop community awareness of mental and chemical health issues through education presentations. We extend the web of support for the healthy development and success of individuals and families in our community.

As a Community Nonprofit Mental Health Center, Relate provides mental health services to a variety of clients in Hennepin County, Minnesota.  Their services are provided regardless of the client’s ability to repay and the majority (61%) of the clients served are low- and moderate-income.  Relate has also created a partnership with the State of Minnesota and local school district to provide free mental health services to students.  More than 300 youth are serve each quarter through this program, many of whom would not have received mental health support otherwise.  Relate also partners with local foodshelves and other nonprofits to provide free mental health to support individuals and families in need. Since the majority of Relate’s programs and services are targeted to low- and moderate-income individuals, a bank donation to support these programs would receive positive consideration as a qualified CRA investment to a community development nonprofit.

Since 1969, Relate Community Center has supported individuals and families in Minnetonka, MN and surrounding communities through a variety of mental health services.
